I’ve never had a green thumb and that’s mainly because I’ve never taken the time to plant anything. However, I’ve watched my grandmother, for as long as I can remember, plant things from flowers to vegetables. I’d sometimes watch her, as a child, plant flowers and although she’d plant them at the same time, they wouldn’t all bloom together. This is because they didn’t all have the same harvesting schedule, some took longer to bloom. During spring time, the flowers would be beautiful and thriving but then winter came and they’d look dry and dead (to my untrained eyes). I’d often wonder when she’d pull them up and replant but she didn’t because when spring came the following year, those same flowers would be beautiful again. All I had to do was wait until it was time. What’s my point? Somebody today is trying to figure out why you haven’t blossomed yet – it isn’t your time yet. You’re trying to understand why you aren’t receiving any of the things you’ve been asking God for – it isn’t your season of harvest yet. Yea, I know you hear the folk saying things about you but stay grounded. See, had grandma bothered those flowers (that looked dead to me), she would have disturbed their foundation probably risking their chance of flourishing in the spring. So, you beloved, wait! Stay grounded and don’t disturb your foundation for there’s some stuff going on inside that’s setting you up to thrive.
Yes, to the untrained eye it may look dead but we serve a God who can breathe life into it a rock and it’ll speak. So what if ‘they’ are whispering about your marriage that looks dead, your children who are acting up, your house that was foreclosed on, the sickness the doctor says you may not heal from, your car that’s on its last leg, your church with hardly any members, your ministry that won’t take off …And! All you have to do is hold on and trust God’s harvesting schedule. I know your hands are starting to shake and sweat, your legs are about to give out and it feels like you’re about to lose your mind but it’s not time yet! When will it happen? I don’t know but whenever it is, it’ll be right on time. How will you know? Well a flower knows when to bloom because of a gene that’s within them. It tells them, “Wake up, it’s time to blossom,” and the plant starts making flowers. As for you, you’ve been blessed with a gene … It’s called Jesus. And when it’s your time, He’ll shake your spirit saying, “Get up, it’s time you flourished.” Yea! He’ll tap your spirit and say, “Get up daughter, its harvest time.” He’ll say, “Wake up son, its reaping time.” He’ll say, “You’ve been sleep too long, there’s work to do.” And it’s then you’ll see the evidence of God manifesting. Doors will start opening you didn’t knock on. You’ll receive things you didn’t ask for. Folk will start calling you and you didn’t even know they knew you. Your ministry will overflow and it will blow your mind. You’ll stand in places you’d never heard of. But only in your season. Stop rushing the process because if you bloom too early, you could do more harm to yourself than good for the bible says in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
