Daily Devotional – 1/14/15 “Change your mindset!”

If you woke up this morning and only had what you thanked God for on yesterday, what would you have? If you got up this morning and only had what you gave God praise for on yesterday, would you have everything you need to make it on today? I don’t mean the bare necessities like air, oxygen, water but I mean the simple things that you take for granted like seeing, walking, talking and being alive or the blessing of being able to hug your child who isn’t hooked up to machines or buried. Or maybe it’s the blessing of having your mother because someone just buried theirs after months of watching them suffer. Or maybe it’s the blessing of having your spouse because someone is replaying memories of theirs. Or maybe it’s the blessing of having a job because someone has been praying for one after being laid off for months. Please understand, I get it; you are entitled to have a bad moment but don’t allow it to turn into a bad day which then turns into a bad week, month and then lifetime.

When you change your mind, when you change your attitude, when you change your expectancy; things change! If you already have your mind made up that your day is going to be bad, it is. When you wake up with the thought that “I got up on the wrong side of the bed,” you are already headed in the wrong direction. When you get to your job and you have already talked yourself into going in with an attitude of displeasure, that’s what you go in with. Baby, I don’t give a flying flip who you work with; they don’t make you who you are. You should go in with joy, if you are of God because He is joy and share Him with them and just maybe you might just rub Him off on some of them. Stop allowing folk to change who you are. Worship services aren’t even the same anymore because folk are so busy worried about other folk’s praise that they can’t even praise themselves but baby when you start walking in God’s house with an attitude of praise already on your lips, a dance praise already on your feet and a shout of praise in your spirit; you won’t care about nobody but you and God. When you stop worrying about folk and start worshipping; you’ll see the difference in your life. You are entitled to have a moment but don’t tarry there long. Change your mindset and it might just change your moment! “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8”
